City Collective: These were prints from a project which made me look at Southbank in a new light. I photographed the area for four days exploring my developed concept that Southbank consists of layers and metaphorically I decided it was closest to an engine. It's bonnet is the river bank and all of its festivities which is the selling point of the area to the tourism trade. This covers and disguises all of the work that is constantly churning underneath, in the back to make the events, props and accessories to bring to the forefront for the entertainment of tourists.
I chose to re-make my photographs into screen prints to enhance my concept of Southbank being 'layered' through a tactile, traditional, dirty process similar to the work behind the scenes of the rive bank.
