Service: Digital illustration
Client: Ellen Donnelly, founder of career coaching company The Ask
Software used: Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Fresco (iPad) and Apple Pencil.
Over a 16 day timeline, I visually interpreted the six steps to choosing "a career you'll fall in love with for a lifetime" into illustrations.
Playing on symbolic imagery to represent the core themes of each step, I focused on producing artworks with a conceptual narrative, aided by the branding guidelines of The Ask.
Content for this client lies at the intersection of careers & self-improvement - right up my street!
The brief:
To produce images to accompany (typically) intangible concepts such as personality traits, values, goal-setting, resilience, etc. to be shared through online content including blogs and social media.
Process (during draft stages of the article):
> Client provided written descriptions of each concept and the overall aims of the article.
> I dismantled and researched the key themes.
> Analysed the voice of the writing.
> Set up an Adobe CC library of The Ask's branding guidelines.
> Sketched alternative ideas by hand and digitally.
> Designed the final compositions checking their suitability of use down to the smallest Instagram thumbnail.
> Finalised illustrations.
